๐ Lord Shiva | ๐ Tiruvalaputhur, Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu

According to tradition, Arjuna worshipped Lord Shiva here after Shiva helped him obtain water during his exile.
The temple is believed to have existed before the 7th century, as it was praised by the Saiva Nayanmars. The structure was subsequently reconstructed and extended during the Chola and Vijayanagara periods. The temple faces east and has a three-tier vimana over the sanctum.
