Thiruthani Murugan Temple is traditionally regarded as the fifth of the six Arupadai Veedu, the sacred abodes of Lord Murugan. The temple is situated on Thiruthani Hill and is associated with Lord Murugan's marriage with Valli. The hill is traditionally approached by 365 steps, symbolically representing the 365 days of the year.

🏛 Temple History

According to the traditional sthala history, after defeating the asura Surapadman, Lord Murugan came to Thiruthani to calm his anger. Thiruthani is also associated with the divine marriage of Lord Murugan and Valli. The hill temple has been an important centre of Murugan worship for centuries and is administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
