๐ Lord Shiva | ๐ Thirunallur, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu
Panchavarneswarar Temple is an ancient Paadal Petra Sthalam where Lord Shiva is worshipped as Panchavarneswarar or Kalyanasundareswarar. The Swayambhu Lingam is traditionally believed to display five different colours at different times of the day, which is the temple's most distinctive feature.
The temple has a long Shaivite tradition and is associated with the Thevaram hymns of Thirunavukkarasar and Thirugnanasambandar. The temple has a five-tiered Rajagopuram and three prakarams. Traditional accounts associate the shrine with Shiva appearing in five colours to Sage Udanga.
