🔱 Temple Significance

Velladainathar Temple is an important Shiva temple associated with the Tevaram tradition. The presiding deity is Velladainathar, also known as Svetarishabeswarar and Velladaieswarar. The temple is traditionally associated with Sundarar and is famous for the annual Pothi Soru food-offering festival commemorating Shiva providing food and water to Sundarar and his devotees.

🏛 Temple History

The temple is located at Thirukkurukavur, now commonly known as Thirukkadaiyur in local usage. The temple is an ancient Saiva shrine and forms part of the Devaram temple network of the Cauvery northern-bank region. The sacred tree is Vilva and the temple has a sacred Paal Kinru (Milk Well).
