๐Ÿ› Temple History

The temple is traditionally associated with the Chola period and is considered one of the important temples of the Kaveri Delta region. According to temple tradition, the nine planetary deities worshipped Lord Shiva here and received divine blessings. Suryanarayana is the principal deity, with the other eight planetary deities also having shrines within the temple complex. The temple's unique arrangement reflects the importance given to Navagraha worship. The temple is also traditionally connected with the worship of Surya along with his consorts Usha and Chhaya. Devotees commonly perform worship and offerings according to their astrological beliefs.
