Ramanathaswamy Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples of Lord Shiva and an important part of the Char Dham pilgrimage. It is believed that Lord Rama worshipped Shiva here to remove sins after the war in Lanka. The temple is famous for its 22 sacred theerthams (holy wells).
